Amid the ongoing debate following the release of the 2025 Champions Trophy schedule, former Pakistan batter Younis Khan has shared his perspective regarding the potential non-participation of the Indian team in the tournament. The speculation has been fuelled by reports suggesting that the Indian government may not agree for the Indian contingent travel to Pakistan due to the political differences between the two nations and security issues in the neighbour nation.

A fortnight after former Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi expressed his views on the matter, while Younis also articulated his stance on the issue now. Younis emphasised his particular desire for Virat Kohli to visit Pakistan for the event next year, asserting that this sentiment was shared by all Pakistanis, including supporters and erstwhile cricketers. Younis highlighted that performing on Pakistani soil was the sole remaining achievement in Kohli's illustrious cricketing career.

"Virat Kohli should come to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy. It is our wish too. He should come and perform in Pakistan. I think the only thing left in Virat's career is to tour Pakistan and perform," stated Younis Khan to News24, as quoted by NDTV Sports.

Undoubtedly so, Younis' statement holds considerable truth. AlthoughKohli has participated in numerous white-ball cricket matches against Pakistan, primarily during ICC events, he is yet to play a match on Pakistani soil. India last engaged in a bilateral series on Pakistani soil in 2006, two years prior to Kohli's international debut.

The last bilateral series involving both teams took place in India in the 2012-13, when Pakistan toured for a two-match T20I series followed by a three ODIs. Although the then-24-year-old participated in those series, Kohli is yet to play a Test match against Pakistan.
