India and Australia are going neck to neck against each other in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. At the end of Day 2, though India have a massive lead of 144, Australia have made it incredibly difficult for the Indian batters to play free flowing cricket. Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century to put Indian on the driver's seat. He stitched good partnerships with Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin and made sure India got the a good lead.
After Rohit and KS Bharat were dismissed, Axar Patel joined Ravindra Jadeja at the crease and made sure that India has a sizeable lead. The spin duo reached their respective fifties and are continued to score runs for the side. On Day 3, the spin-twins will aim to extend India's lead even further as they have settled in nicely.
He told me that it will keep getting easier the more time I spend at the crease: Axar Patel
While talking on the Star Sports show, Axar Patel spoke about his partnership and his communication with Jadeja. He said, "I was finding it slightly difficult when I went in initially. The ball was bouncing and spinning a little. The ball was also new, so it was hard. But when I spoke to Jaddu, he told me that it will keep getting easier the more time I spend at the crease. Our combination was going very well in Gujarati."
The left-arm spinner then spoke about how it was important not to lose focus. He said, "So that is what I was doing. When I spent some time, it became slightly easier. The talk was that we should not lose our focus because anything can happen as an odd ball can turn or skid."
Australia's first task would be to dismiss the tail early on Day 3 and then bat the full day to stay alive in the Test match. Axar and Jadeja would be hopeful to play good shots in the morning session and add to India's lead.
