Pacer Graham Hume will fly to Australia to replace injured Craig Young in Ireland’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The same was confirmed by Cricket Ireland on October 8 (Saturday). This has come as a huge blow for Ireland as Young has been a consistent performer for the Irish team of late.
Young has been forced out from the mega event due to an injury. The right-arm pacer will be returning to Ireland for further assessment. Hume, who has replaced Young has already made his T20I debut against Afghanistan.
Craig will return home and plan out his rehab: Cricket Ireland's release
“Unfortunately, whilst out in Sydney for our T20 World Cup prep camp, Craig experienced a recurrence of a chronic issue which we have been managing for quite some time,” Mark Rausa, Head of Physiotherapy and Medical Services at Cricket Ireland said in a release.
“Whilst we thought we were on top of the issue, it sadly flared up once we arrived in Sydney and began training. Craig will now return home for an assessment with our medical specialists to plan out his rehab,” he added.
