PAK vs ENG: Babar Azam cites dew factor behind team's huge defeat in 6th T20I in Lahore
Despite the loss, Babar talked about staying confident and not letting an odd defeat take away the momentum from Pakistan.
Team England completed a solid performance against Pakistan as they completely thrashed the home team during the sixth T20I encounter played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on September 30 (Friday).
Meanwhile, Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam blamed the dew factor for his team's humiliating loss against the Three Lions. He also praised the English batters stating that the onslaught in the first six overs made all the difference.
Chasing a target of 170 runs, England's openers Philip Salt and Alex Halex completely outplayed the Pakistani bowling line-up as they smashed 55 runs in just 3.5 overs. Salt went on to register the third-fastest T20I half-century by an English batter as he smashed 88 off 41 balls.
The first six overs made the difference: Babar Azam
"The first six overs made the difference, the way they utilized them. The ball became wet because of dew and the spinners and fast bowlers found it tough to grip it. In the second innings, the ball also came on nicely to the bat when there was dew. The ball became soapy and it became tough for bowlers. But credit should go to Salt and Hales for giving England momentum with a fast start,” Babar said in a video uploaded on Pakistan Cricket’s Twitter handle.
Despite suffering a big loss, Babar emphasized the fact that his team is confident and one odd defeat will not make much difference.
“As a team, such situations will come and you will have to face them. We played previous matches and won and shouldn’t lose our confidence. At the end of the day, you have to talk and discuss about mistakes so that you don’t repeat them in the next match,” he added.
With the series leveled at three each, both teams will face each other in a series decider to be played at the same venue on October 2 (Sunday). The host nation will want to perform well in the final match and come out victorious.
