Pakistan appoint Shahid Aslam as white-ball batting coach
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named former first-class cricketer Shahid Aslam as the men's national team's full-time batting coach.
Following a mixed performance in the recent Australian series, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named the former first-class cricketer, Shahid Aslam, as the men's national team's full-time batting coach. While the team secured a historic 2-1 victory in the ODI series against Australia, their subsequent 3-0 defeat in the T20I series asked for a need for enhancement in their batting department.
Aslam has served extensively as a support staff member with the Pakistan cricket team. His appointment was made after Aqib Javed was announced as the interim white-ball head coach, until the Champions Trophy 2025. The upcoming Zimbabwe tour set to begin on November 24, will be Aslam's first assignment.
In Zimbabwe, Pakistan will play two limited overs series comprising three ODIs and as many T20Is, respectively. Notably, all the matches will be played in Bulawayo. The PCB's restructuring of the coaching staff isn't complete yet, as the board has also indicated plans to appoint a spin bowling coach shortly.
Aslam will work with experienced players like Mohammad Rizwan and young talents such as Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub. His role will be crucial in bridging the gap between the team's potential and performance, particularly in white-ball cricket.
