Pakistan coach Aaqib Javed downplays Jasprit Bumrah threat ahead of Champions Trophy 2025
" If any team has a bowler like Bumrah, it is a plus point. But it is not like we will plan everything around him," Aaqib told reporters.
The Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be one of the biggest ICC events to look forward to and is just 13 days away. The tournament is going to be hosted by Pakistan and Dubai who will be hosting the Champions Trophy for the first time and there are a lot of talks around the teams.
One of the teams that are under discussion is the Indian side who finished as champions in 2013 and were the finalist in the last edition. One of the top discussions on the squad is the availability of Jasprit Bumrah who has been having some fitness issues ahead of the tournament. While Bumrah is expected to be a key figure in the squad and has been a challenge for all the batters, Pakistan interim head coach Aaqib Javed has completely downplayed the threat saying that they are not planning everything around the star pacer.
“They should be worried about Bumrah's fitness. When you play Champions Trophy, the most beautiful thing about it is you can't take any team lightly. The top eight best teams are playing. If any team has a bowler like Bumrah, it is a plus point. But it is not like we will plan everything around him," Aaqib Javed told reporters.
Rohit gives an update on Bumrah
It looks doubtful that Bumrah will be featuring in the three-match ODI series and questions were being asked to India skipper Rohit Sharma on whether he will be fit for the upcoming tournament. The two-time T20 World Champions has given an update on the 31-year-old pacer that the team is waiting for the results of his scans.
“Jasprit we're waiting on some update about his scan, which is due to happen in the next few days, we're just waiting on that update, which is going to happen in the next few days, the scan. Then, probably, we'll have a little more clarity about his participation in the last ODI," Rohit said during a pre-match press conference before the England match.
