The Pakistan cricket fans rejoiced when they saw Shaheen Afridi’s name on the main roster after PCB announced their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. Afridi has been out of the international setup for quite some time now owing to his knee injury, but he will mark his return to the game at the marquee global event which starts in October in Australia.

Shaheen Afridi was with the team during the initial stages of the Asia Cup 2022, but he flew to the UK soon then for his rehabilitation. While his recovery process has turned out to be a positive sign for the Pakistani side, Shahid Afridi’s comments made it a little problematic for the country’s cricketing board as he revealed that the pacer had borne all the expenses.

We will continue to be responsible for arranging medical care and rehabilitation of all its players: PCB

The PCB, following Shahid Afridi's revelations, approached Shaheen to assure him that all his expenditures will be covered. They also released a statement on Thursday night, to announce the same and put the information out to the public after Shahid Afridi’s comments, and mentioned that the board will take care of every player’s medical arrangements.

“The PCB is also pleased to advise and update that Shaheen Shah Afridi is making excellent progress in his rehabilitation in London and is on track to make a full recovery in time for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Australia 2022. It goes without saying that the PCB has always been and will continue to be responsible for arranging medical care and rehabilitation of all its players requiring any treatment,” the PCB said in an official statement.

Recently, Shahid Afridi revealed that Shaheen flew to England on his expenses and managed his stay all by himself, with the Pakistan Cricket Board taking up no charge of the same.

“He has flown out to the UK on his own ticket, he is staying there on his own money, I arranged a doctor for him there, he contacted him there, the PCB is not doing anything in all this. As far as I know, he is doing everything about staying there and coordinating with doctors,” Shahid Afridi had said in a recent interview with Samaa TV.
