Pakistan women cricketer Nahida Khan announces retirement from international cricket
Nahida Khan made her debut for Pakistan back in February 2009.
Pakistan women’s cricketer Nahida Khan recently came forward to announce her retirement from international cricket. The 36-year-old made her debut for the national team back in February 2009, against Sri Lanka. Over a career that has spanned many years, Nahida has played over 100 matches across formats for Pakistan.
Furthermore, the opening batter also holds the record for the most catches in an ODI innings when she caught the ball four times for Pakistan against Sri Lanka back in 2018. Having played 66 ODIs for Pakistan, Nahida has amassed 1410 runs to her name, with 604 runs in 54 T20I matches. She has represented Pakistan in three ODI World Cups, (2013, 2017 and 2022), and four T20I World Cups as well (2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018).
Following her retirement, she also came forward to reflect on her career and thank the fans for their unwavering support. Furthermore, she also thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board for their guidance.
"I am grateful for the unwavering support I received throughout my career. I want to thank my family, teammates, coaches, and the Pakistan Cricket Board for their guidance and belief in my abilities. I also want to thank the passionate fans who supported me throughout my journey, both in Pakistan and across the globe," Nahida Khan was quoted as saying by The News International.

Head of Women's Cricket, Tania Mallick, also reflected on Nahida Khan’s immense contribution to Pakistan cricket. Mallick also stated that her performances and longevity could act as a source of inspiration for future cricketers to follow their dreams.
"Nahida Khan's contribution to women's cricket in Pakistan will be remembered. Her dedication, skill, and constant determination have left an indelible mark on the game, inspiring generations of cricketers to follow their dreams and pursue greatness," Tania Mallick said.
"As Nahida embarks on the next chapter of her life, the cricket fraternity, fans, and well-wishers extend their warmest wishes," she added.
