Pakistan Women's training & conditioning camp set to commence on Thursday
The women's national selection committee has chosen the players they shortlisted to prepare them for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Bangladesh from October 3, 2024.
There will be a 17-day camp from August 8 which will see 25 women cricketers take part in the skills and fitness camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.
The players are scheduled to arrive at the camp on August 7 and will participate in various fitness sessions beginning August 8. According to reports on the official website of the Pakistan Cricket Board, the camp will be divided into two phases.
The fitness sessions, including players’ medical screenings, fitness, and fielding drills, will continue until August 18. The second phase will commence on August 19 and run until the end of the camp, featuring skills sessions, including net practices, under the supervision of the national coaching staff.
The women’s national selection committee has designated the players to prepare them for the imminent ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is slated to take place in Bangladesh on October 3.

The roster of 25 players comprises nine batters, eight bowlers, six all-rounders, and two wicket-keepers. The detailed breakdown is as follows:
Batters – Ayesha Zafar, Dua Majid, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza, Iram Javed, Omaima Sohail, Sadaf Shamas, Sidra Amin, Yusra Amir.
Bowlers – Diana Baig, Neha Sharmin Nadeem, Tasmia Rubab, Waheeda Akhtar, Zaib-un-Nisa Niaz, Nashra Sundhu, Sadia Iqbal, Umm-e-Hani.
All-rounders – Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana, Nida Dar, Rameen Shamim, Syeda Aroob Shah, Tuba Hassan.
Wicketkeepers – Muneeba Ali, Najiha Alvi.
Looking ahead, Pakistan Women do not have any fixtures lined up for them until the Women's T20 World Cup warmup matches which will see them play against England Women and West Indies Women just ahead of the marquee event.
Pakistan Women, currently positioned eighth in the ICC Women's T20I rankings, will undoubtedly seek to enhance their standing during the 20-over tournament in October, with aspirations of advancing further than usual this time.
They endured a heartbreaking defeat against the hosts and eventual champions of the Women's Asia Cup 2024, Sri Lanka, in the semi-final. They would aim to transform this disappointment into constructive effort as they commence their camp on Thursday.
