Pakistan’s bowling all-rounder Nida Dar has become the leading wicket-taker in Women’s T20I cricket with 126 wickets from 123 innings. Dar achieved this rare feat while playing a World Cup match against England in Cape Town on February 21.
Dar, a charismatic all-rounder, claimed the prized scalp of her opposite number Heather Knight to go past Anisa Mohammad of the West Indies. Dar was leading the Pakistani side in the absence of regular skipper and all-rounder Bismah Maroof.
Dar is no mug with the bat either. In 130 T20Is, she has amassed 1687 runs laced with seven fifties.
Batting first, England had posted 213/5 in the allotted 20 overs thus paving the way for the team to achieve victory by a huge margin of 114 runs. Though the result of the match did not go according to Dar’s liking, she did end up creating an individual record for herself.
Anisa Mohammed is 2nd in the coveted list
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Anisa Mohammed from West Indies is second in the coveted list of highest wicket-takers with 125 wickets followed by Australia’s Megan Schutt and Ellyse Perry. Both Aussie cricketers have claimed 122 wickets 137 and 94 T20Is respectively.
India’s Deepti Sharma is not far behind
India’s talented Deepti Sharma is ninth in the list with 101 wickets. Poonam Yadav is two wickets short of entering the 100-wickets club in T20Is.
In the Women’s ODI cricket, India’s J Goswami, now a retired cricketer, leads the highest wicket-takers chart bagging 255 wickets.
Most Wickets, Most Runs in WT20IWC
Meanwhile, in the ongoing Women’s T20I World Cup tournament, England’s Ecclestone, Australia’s M Schutt and New Zealand’s L Tahuhu are leading the Most Wickets chart with eight wickets, each. Kapp, Gardener and Renuka have claimed seven scalps, each.
Similarly, N R Sciver from England is leading the Most Runs table in the ongoing WT20I World Cup in South Africa with 176 runs followed by India’s Smriti Mandhana who has amassed 149 runs from three games, including her latest fiery knock of 87 runs.
