With the highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy round the corner in less than a month's time, discussions surrounding the squads of both sides as well as how the series might pan out are flooding the cricketing realm. Amidst these, there are widespread deliberations on the nature of tracks which would be in store for India, who would be aiming to make it three on the bounce after emerging victorious in the 2018-18 and 2020-21 seasons.
In a recent conversation, Australian red-ball skipper, Pat Cummins, humorously hinted at preparing pitches with a substantial covering of grass, if it were up for him to choose.
"I wish, if I had my way, the pitches would be looking like those bushes behind you," wittingly replied Cummins after being asked about the type of pitches he would be hoping for during the five-match series while conversing on The Grade Cricketer.
Cummins later admitted to being not in control of the pitches which would be prepared.
"Unfortunately, I don't have any say, so we will wait and see. Last couple of seasons, the wickets have been awesome. It feels like if someone has scored a hundred, they have batted the house down," noted Cummins.

I just hope there is a bit of balance between bat and ball: Cummins
On a more serious note, Cummins hoped the tracks prepared would assist the batting and bowling departments equitably.
"I just hope there is a bit of balance between bat and ball. I think some of those Indian spinning wickets as well, I think that last tour, Delhi we should have won. It just gets the teams close to each other if you get the wickets like that, but you don't hear our players complaining about those types of wickets," added Cummins.

The imminent series will be Cummins' first as captain against India in home conditions. Having already led Australia to glory at the 2021-23 cycle of the World Test Championship against the same opposition, he would be quietly confident in the lead-up to the series.
