The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is preparing to host the next edition of the Champions Trophy 2025. With the tournament rapidly approaching, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has approved several upgrades for stadiums in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi.

It is worth noting that renovation work is already underway at the Karachi National Stadium, which is one of the venues for the tournament, alongside Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and Rawalpindi International Cricket Stadium.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) recently approved a budget of $70 million, even covering the expenses for the warm-up matches, media, and promotional activities from February 12–18.

Furthermore, the PCB has allocated a huge sum of money for the upgrades; the changes will be finalised before the start of the competition, which is set to kick off on February 19, with the summit clash scheduled for March 9, 2025.

As for the competition, every participating side will be allowed two warm-up matches in Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi. Recently, Mohsin Naqvi visited the BDP Pattern’s London office, where he met up with Chairman Chris Harding.

In his visit, Naqvi briefed the office on the various stadium upgrades, highlighting how satisfied they were with the plans in motion, expressing the importance of the upgrades being made, and how they would help the PCB accommodate a large number of fans at the venue.

Pakistan set to take on Bangladesh in upcoming series

Speaking of Pakistan’s upcoming assignments, the side will be taking on Bangladesh in a two-game Test series. The first Test will kick off from August 21, and will be held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Furthermore, the second Test will be held at the Karachi National Stadium and will begin from August 30. The two Tests will be crucial for both sides in their World Test Championship campaign as a win would do wonders for their standings.
