The Pakistan team right now has started off their ODI series against South Africa by claiming the series after two big wins against the Proteas. However, this has still not stopped the rumours about Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), their governing body, and the problems faced by the team management.

The (PCB) had faced massive criticism after the resignation of top coaches Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten. This led to Pakistan appointing former Pakistan cricketer Aaqib Javed as the interim Head coach of the national team. Gillespie had given his reason that the board had diminished his role as a coach, and resigned just eight months into his two-year contract with the team. The statement made by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi on the responsibility of the team management and selectors has also caused a bit of drama as well.

“The head coach's role is to coach the team, while the selection committee is supposed to select players," Naqvi told in an interaction with Geo TV.

Achievements of Gary Kirsten and Gillespie as coaches

Before taking the job as the head coaches of the Pakistan team, both Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten had a lot of experience and success as coaches. Gillespie had successful stints in the domestic scene as he coached English county side Yorkshire and won championships with them. He was also the coach of the Adelaide Strikers in BBL and had a successful season where they made it to the playoffs for the second consecutive time.

Speaking of Gary Kirsten, he is perhaps one of the best International coaches in the world and is known for his contribution to the Indian team who emerged victorious in the 2011 ODI World Cup. Kirsten also coached his home nation South Africa from 2011 to 2013 and also got them to the number one ranking in Test Cricket. Apart from his success in International cricket, he has given his services as a coach for IPL franchises Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT).
