PCB chairperson Mohsin Naqvi reported to replace Jay Shah as Asian Cricket Council head
Shah was recently elected unopposed as the chairperson of the International Cricket Council.
Nearly a week post Jay Shah's unopposed election as the new future chairperson of the International Cricket Council (ICC), fresh reports have suggested that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi is the strongest contender to assume the presidential position at the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), a position currently held by Shah.
Notably, upon assumption of the chairperson at the ICC, Shah will be required to depart as the ACC as well as the BCCI position, as per the council's policy. This is done to make sure there are no conflict of interests or biased or partial decisions taken in or against the favour of the boards. Thus, Naqvi emerges as the strongest contender for the continental council's president.
“When the ACC meets later this year, it will confirm that Naqvi will be the next president for a two-year term. When Jay Shah steps down, the PCB chief will take over,” a source in a report said as per NDTV Sports.

Shah was quite evidently stoked on being nominated as the chairperson of the global governing body. Shah also spoke on the few objectives which he had thought regarding the refinement of the game, which included the regulation of the various formats as well as the integration of crucial parameters such as diversity and inclusivity in their future processes. He also shed light on cricket being incorporated into the 2028 Summer Olympic Games and the immense role it would play in the further transmittance of the sport into untrodden areas.
