'Why are we playing on such a surface at home' - Ramiz Raja lashes out at Multan's pitch as batters reign supreme
"I'm sure bowlers will be questioning the quality of this track," said Raja.
The second Test between Pakistan and England turned out to be a mayhem as runs started flowing from every nook and corner. Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first on a flat Multan track and piled up 556 runs in the first innings. England went one step ahead as Joe Root and Harry Brook made the Pakistan bowlers toil hard with their knocks of 262 and 317 runs, respectively.
As a result, England posted a humongous 823 runs before declaring on Day 4. The game saw over 1500 runs being scored in the first 10 sessions of the Test and former Pakistan cricketer, Ramiz Raja was livid over the nature of the track. He stated that bowlers had no edge in the game and questioned the pitch preparation for the game.
"I'm sure bowlers will be questioning the quality of this track because they bend their back and nothing has happened. You start questioning why such a surface was provided and why are we playing on such a surface at home,” said Raja as quoted by Wisden.

We asked for a good cricket wicket: Masood
It is worth noting that, criticism was at its peak when Pakistan succumbed to touring Bangladesh by 2-0 in the preceding Test series. The team was under the scanner to come good against England. Pakistan skipper, Shan Masood, while at the toss in Multan, admitted to have requested for a flat track against England.

“We asked for a good cricket wicket. Both teams are stacked with good batting line-ups. We have been in winning positions and not won from there, it has caused some hurt amongst the team and the cricket fraternity. We want to get back to winning ways and hopefully, these bunch of guys can do that,” said Masood at the toss.
