The ODI World Cup trophy is currently on a world tour and its latest stop was at the Modern High School in Kolkata. Legendary former Indian pacer, Jhulan Goswami, welcomed the coveted trophy to the city. She posed for pictures with the trophy and some of the students of the school, who were donning India jerseys.

Jhulan said that winning the ODI World Cup is a dream of every cricketer and was hopeful that India will be able to win the tournament for the third time as they host nine other teams, later this year. The upcoming 50-over World Cup will be the first one to be held exclusively in India.

"This is the ultimate goal of a cricketer. Winning the ODI World Cup is like a dream come true for every cricketer. Like Olympics is the ultimate event for an athlete, for a cricketer it's the ODI World Cup which comes after four years," Goswami was quoted as saying by The Week.

"Remember when Dhoni hit a six and we won the trophy after 28 and the excitement all over? I hope the Indian team will lift this trophy again (on November 19 in Ahmedabad)," she further added.

The 40-year-old also urged Indian cricket fans to wholeheartedly support the players when they step onto the field. India begins their World Cup campaign on October 8 when they face Australia.

"Please support our heroes this time too. Winning and losing are part of the game. But they will be our heroes forever. So please support them, be with them," Goswami concluded.

World Cup Trophy to tour 18 countries

It will traverse 18 countries around the world, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, USA, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, the United States of America, and the host country India. The next destination is Kerala. Trivandrum and Kochi will be the lucky cities that will get to host the trophy.
