Tamil Nadu captain Sai Kishore wants his team to play a positive brand of cricket in the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. Last year’s semi-finalists will begin their campaign against Saurashtra on October 11 and ahead of that, the captain noted that the preparations have been good and expects the team to put on a good show in the domestic season.

He also reminded that six of their players featured in the Duleep Trophy and for the same reason, there are a lot of expectations from the team this year. He added that the players have set high standards for themselves but don’t take to carry extra baggage for the team. The 27-year-old wants the team to focus on the job and play to their merit.

“Our preparation has been good, and we want to play a positive brand of cricket. There are always expectations not just from outside but even within ourselves. We had six players in the Duleep Trophy, and we have set high standards. But we just want to focus on our job,” Sai Kishore was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Kishore did a good job as captain last season but some of his decisions were questioned later on. For instance, in the semi-final against Mumbai, Kishore won the toss and decided to bat first on a seam-friendly track, which proved to be costly. Speaking on the same, the spinner mentioned that he is still learning the tactical bit of the captaincy but when it comes to the management part, he tries to be honest with all the cricketers.

“Captaincy, in terms of player management and being honest with them, came naturally to me. On the tactical side, I had a few things to learn and have worked on it. I have spoken to a few captains ahead of the season,” he stated.
