Prasidh Krishna burst onto the scene with his impressive performances for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. The 27-year-old is so much more than just a tall pacer who can bowl in excess of 140 kph. In his first stint for India, Prasidh picked up 25 wickets in 14 matches. A stress fracture ruled him out of action but he made his recovery and is showing glimpses of his potential in the ongoing T20I series against Ireland.
The right-arm seamer made his debut in the shortest format of the game in the first T20I against Ireland in Dublin. Using favourable conditions to good effect, Prasidh finished with figures of 2/32 in his four overs. He was exceptional in the second T20I as well, dismissing top-order batters like Paul Stirling and Lorcan Tucker in his effort of 2/29 in four overs.
Aakash Chopra said that Prasidh is one of his favourite bowlers and felt that he would be famous after seeing him for the first time. The former India opener explained what makes Prasidh a difficult customer to face for batters.
“There is no doubt that this Krishna will become Prasidh. He is one of my favourite bowlers. When I saw him for the first time, I said that he will become famous because he has got all the basic ingredients of fast bowling,” Aakash said on his YouTube channel.
“He has a high-arm action, gets good bounce and the pace is also around 140 kph. He has come back at a very good time. He picked up two wickets, both with short balls, first Paul Stirling and then Lorcan Tucker,” Chopra continued.
Aakash Chopra heaps praise on young leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi
Like Prasidh Krishna, Ravi Bishnoi has also been bowling well in Ireland. The leg-spinner has picked up two wickets in each of the two matches he has played so far. The 22-year-old has been with the Indian squad for some time but only played a handful of matches as the management tends to go in with the experienced Yuzvendra Chahal.
“Then Bishnoi comes and it is almost confirmed that Bishnoi will pick up two wickets against this team. He took two in the last match as well and he scalped two wickets in this match too,” Chopra concluded.
