The 2024-25 Indian domestic season is all set to kick off with the Duleep Trophy, which is set to begin on Thursday, September 5. The zonal system of the tournament has been replaced by India A, B, C, and D, who will face off in a round-robin format without any knockout matches.
India A will open their campaign by taking on India B at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, and with recent reports emerging, India pacer Prasidh Krishna, who is part of India A, will be missing the first game of the season.
Krishna was expected to make his return from a quad injury, but his return has been delayed even further after India A skipper, Shubman Gill, confirmed Krishna’s absence for the clash, the reason for the same being that he has not yet achieved full match fitness.
Krishna had already missed the IPL 2024 due to surgery in February and was expected to make his return in the Maharaja Trophy T20 after he was picked up by the eventual winners Mysore Warriors, at the 2024 auction in late July.
There has been no update about Krishna’s replacement in the squad as of yet and, after his quad injury’s surgery, Krishna had been undergoing his rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
However, despite Krishna’s absence, India A still boasts a remarkable arsenal of bowlers. The likes of Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed, and Avesh Khan could feature, alongside Kuldeep Yadav, who could spearhead the spin attack of the side.
With their clash against India B looming on the horizon, the side will be making plans to cope with the absence of Prasidh Krishna in the lineup. Currently, it remains to be seen when the pacer will make his return to the side, but with his hunt to get back into the national team on, Krishna would be raring to go as soon as he is cleared.
