Prithvi Shaw's fitness questioned by fans after practice video goes viral

Ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), youngster Prithvi Shaw was spotted wearing a Delhi Capitals shirt and training indoors. However, as soon as the video went viral, many fans started to question his fitness, which has been a matter of discussion for a long time now. The youngster has faced a lot of backlash in recent times because of the same as many urged him to lose some weight to get back into the scheme of things as far as international cricket is concerned.
Notably, Shaw played his last international game in 2021. He was initially dropped from the Test squad but as time passed, he was no longer considered for any format of the game. Some of-field controversy too bothered his reputation and his performance in the cash-rich league was extremely ordinary. There were talks of Delhi releasing him ahead of IPL 2024 but the franchise ultimately kept hold of him. However, if he fails to live up to the expectations in the upcoming season, the opener may get released ahead of the 2025 edition.
Meanwhile, Shaw was spotted practising defensive techniques in the training. He was out of action for a long time after suffering a knee injury while playing for Northants. He was on song in the One-Day Cup, hitting 244 runs and 125* before picking up the injury. He missed the Vijay Hazare Trophy and there’s still no update on his return to domestic cricket.
However, the goal would be for him to do well in the upcoming edition of the IPL and get back into the scheme of things, if not making it to the squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be played from June 3, just after the mega tournament in India. His attacking brand of cricket is something that the national team craves for at the top of the order and hence, if Shaw manages to prove himself, one can always be optimistic. However, the road to the Indian team is far away from his reach at the moment. Here's the video of Shaw from practice and fans' reaction:
