PSL 2025: Ali Zafar, Talha Anjum among others to perform at opening ceremony in Rawalpindi

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is to take place on April 11 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium at 7.00 pm local time. Some big Pakistan stars will be a part of this event ahead, one of the most anticipated T20 franchise tournaments featuring some of the biggest players from across the world.

This will be the tenth edition of the tournament, which will feature six teams in the mix. The first match will be played between defending champions Islamabad United and two-time champions Lahore Qalandars. And, ahead of the tournament opener, a mega event, which will not only have a spectacular fireworks display, but also feature some performances from some of the biggest homegrown artists.

The most popular of the lot is actor-musician Ali Zafar, who will perform a cultural act. The other artists involved will be renowned Sufi singer Abida Parveen and Karachi-based hip-hop duo Young Stunners. The anthem singers along with Zafar will be Abrar-ul-Haq, Natasha Baig and famous rapper-singer Talha Anjum. With these big artists lined up to perform in the upcoming tournament, it is set to be another big tournament for all the fans.

What happened last season?

The 2024 season withnessed Islamabad United go on to become the most successful team in the tournament, winning their third title. The team was led by spin bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan who was also the Player of the Tournament with 305 runs and 14 wickets in the season.

The team will be led once again by the 26-year-old who will now be looking to defend the title this season. They will also become only the second team to defend their titles in the tournament, which so far been only achieved by Lahore Qalandars.
