Karachi Kings officially confirmed David Warner as their captain for the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Salman Iqbal, the owner of the Karachi Kings, was thrilled to welcome Warner to the Kings family. He appreciated Shan Masood for his contributions to the team in the previous season and wished him the best as a player in the squad.
Kings pointed out the legacy of Warner by mentioning his role in the big league, like the BBL. Warner's major achievements like winning the World Cup with Australia and captaining Sydney Thunder in the BBL made him a strong case for the captain's spot. The Southpaw was the first draft pick of the Kings during the PSL Players Draft 2025, which took place in January 2025.
Salman was thrilled to announce Warner as the skipper of the Kings. He claimed the veteran's track record as a player and as a skipper aligns well with the vision of the Kings.
"We are thrilled to welcome David Warner to the Karachi Kings family as our new captain. His track record as a leader and match-winner aligns perfectly with our vision for PSL 10," Iqbal said in a release by the franchise on Monday, March 24.
Warner replaces Shan Masood
Karachi's owner also gave Shan Masood his flowers by extending his appreciation to the star batter. Salman claimed Shan played a key role in shaping Karachi's squad in the previous season. He hoped to look forward to seeing Masood in a key role in the batting department in the upcoming edition.
"At the same time, we extend our deepest appreciation to Shan Masood for his exceptional contributions last season. His efforts were pivotal in building a strong foundation, and we look forward to his continued role as a key player in the squad," Salman added.
PSL 2025 start on April 11, and the Karachi-based franchise will play their first match of the season on April 12 against Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium. Kings would hope to win the trophy in the upcoming edition under the spirited leadership of the Australian star.
