Rachin Ravindra calls Virat Kohli's wicket late on Day 3 as game changer

Star New Zealand reflected on how Day 3 of the first Test panned out for his side on  Friday. Notably, after the visitors took a mammoth lead, Team India started cautiously. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma were looking good until Jaiswal perished owing to some sensational fielding of the Kiwis.

However, the star India batter Virat Kohli yet again turned up as the number three batter. This time after an early vigil, Kohli started milking around runs and smashing a couple of boundaries in between in a bid to score quickly and also dominating the spin bowlers on a surface which was expected to see spinners playing a major role as the game progresses. While Rohit got dismissed in a rather unfortunate manner, Kohli was looking solid while nearing his century.

However, just before stumps were called, New Zealand's golden arm Glenn Phillips, got Kohli caught behind wickets by Tom Blundell to end India's run deficit act on a low. In the same vein, the Indian-origin Kiwi allrounder Rachin Ravindra shared his views on Virat Kohli's dismissal. Notably, India were looking to finish the day without losing any wickets ahead with Sarfaraz Khan and Kohli putting on a vital 136-run stand but with Kohli's wicket, the visitors have seemingly bounced back in the first game of the series.

"It was huge and Virat is a great player and we still have runs on the board. We know that things happen in this part of the world," said Ravindra after the conclusion of Day 3.

But this did not stop Kohli from getting his name etched in the history books by becoming only the fourth Indian to get past the 9000-run landmark in Tests. Former Indian stalwarts Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid are the other three legends who have achieved this feat before.

Meanwhile, while discussing about Kohli, Rachin Ravindra also shared his thoughts on his century knock and also playing at the iconic M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. The youngster revealed that he was focussed on building partnerships with his fellow batters and the former skipper Tim Southee complimented him really well with his batting, thereby making things easier for him on the other side of the crease.

Remarkably enough, Rachin Ravindra scored a century for New Zealand after a span of 12 years on the Indian land. He arrived at number four and scored a scintillating 134 runs off 157 balls. His sublime knock included 13 boundaries and four sixes, respectively.

As a result of his effort, New Zealand handed India a 356-run deficit. Furthermore, he thanked the Bengaluru fans for showing up in large numbers and supporting him well just like Indian players are supported. Moreover, he also revealed that his father and other family members were also present at the venue, which made his century even more memorable.

“I guess I was just trying to build partnerships and the partnership with Timmy (Tim Southee) really helped me out. It's a really good wicket out there. Yes, it's comforting though the wicket is different and nice playing in this ground. It's great [to have my father and family around] and always appreciate the support from the Bangalore crowd," Ravindra concluded.
