Anvay Dravid, the younger son of legendary cricketer Rahul Dravid, has been named in Karnataka's probable list for the Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, scheduled to begin on December 6. Anvay, who is following in his father's footsteps, is one of three wicketkeeper-batters selected in the 35-member probable list, alongside Aditya Jha and Joy James.

Anvay has already led Karnataka's under-14 side last year and led the team with distinction in the inter-zone meet. His recent performance in the KSCA Under-16 Inter-Zonal tournament was particularly noteworthy, where he scored an unbeaten double century (200*) for Bangalore Zone against Tumkur Zone.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association has appointed former state players Kunal Kapoor and Adithya B Sagar as head coach and bowling coach respectively for the under-16 team.

Their expertise and experience will be invaluable in nurturing young talents like Anvay during the Vijay Merchant Trophy campaign. While Anvay prepares for the Under-16 tournament, his elder brother Samit is already representing Karnataka in the Cooch Behar Trophy. Recently, Samit made 71 runs against Baroda, though in a losing cause.

Meanwhile, the senior Dravid is busy on his IPL commitments, having recently joined Rajasthan Royals (RR) as their head coach after concluding his stint with the senior men's national team. Dravid will be seen in the auction table for the IPL 2025 mega-auction, scheduled for November 24 and 25 in Jeddah.

"We have decided that we will do six out of six retentions. We will retain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, and Sandeep Sharma. We came to this decision because we trust our talent. We also trust that we want to maintain and build with that core," Dravid told JioCinema.
