Rahul Dravid's younger son Anvay displayed his brilliance with the bat for Karnataka Under-16 in the Vijay Merchant Trophy 2024-25 quarterfinals, smashing an unbeaten 110 gainst Umesh Gill-led Punjab at ADSA Railways Cricket Ground, Ahmedabad.
Punjab batted first, putting up a big total of 742/9 before declaring. Gursimran Singh was the star for his side with a brilliant double century (230 off 426 balls), supported by six other batters who scored half-centuries. Karnataka were on the back foot and the early setbacks only added to their woes.
Coming in at No. 4 after a top-order collapse, Anvay showed intent early on. Karnataka lost opener Arya J Gowda for a duck and suffered a middle-order collapse, falling from 130/2 to 181/6. Meanwhile, Anvay anchored the innings with his 198-ball century including 12 boundaries. His 95-run partnership with Dhyaan M Hiremath for the seventh wicket was a turning point. Together, they hammered Punjab’s bowlers, batting for 202 balls to stabilise Karnataka’s innings.
Hiremath contributed 33 off 114 balls before being dismissed, but Anvay remained unbeaten, carrying Karnataka to 280/7 by the end of the match. However, Karnataka fell short in the quarterfinals, with Punjab advancing based on their superior first-innings total.

This was Anvay’s second century in the tournament, the first coming against Jharkhand, where he scored an unbeaten 100 off 153 balls. The 16-year-old is Karnataka’s leading run-scorer with 459 runs in eight innings, including two centuries and three half-centuries.
On the other hand, Anvay's elder brother, Samit, has also been grabbing eyeballs for his exploits in the domestic circuit. The batter made his debut in the senior men's T20 team in 2024. He also featured Maharaja T20 Trophy in Karnataka playing for the Mysore Warriors. He scored 82 runs at a strike rate of 114 across seven innings.
