Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw has hogged the limelight again as he struck his second double ton in the ongoing Ranji Trophy against Assam. Shaw has been making waves in the domestic circuit ever since he was axed from the national team. The right-handed batter has let his bat do the talking when it mattered the most in the Ranji Trophy.
Prithvi has been out of the national side for quite sometime now. With his recent consistent outings in the domestic circuit, the national selectors might as well want to look at the 23-year-old for a place in the Indian team.
After Assam invited Mumbai to bat first, Shaw stormed to his century off just 107 deliveries before the lunch break as he took on the bowlers with a flurry of boundaries. He and captain Ajinkya Rahane propelled Mumbai to 389 for two at the end of Day 1. Shaw remained unbeaten on 240 off 283 balls, with 33 fours and a six.
On the other hand, Rahane also gave a good account of himself smashing an unbeaten 73 off 140 deliveries. He will be keen to convert this knock into a big score.
Here's how Twitter reacted after the youngster smashed his double century:

Mumbai’s domination continues, as @PrithviShaw sparkles with a magnificent 240 not out, strike rate of 84.81, 33 fours and 1 maximum, making the Assam bowlers look very ordinary in the middle. His mind set, confidence are top notch, doing what he does best. #RanjiTrophy #MUMVsASM

While Prithvi Shaw will look to convert his knock into a triple-century on Wednesday (January 11), he is certainly making a case for his inclusion in the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series against Australia. The India vs Australia Test series is scheduled to begin from February 9.
