Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Paras Dogra climbs to second on all-time run-scoring list

Paras Dogra etched his name into the history books as he became the second-highest run-getter in the all-time list in the Ranji Trophy. He achieved the feat on Saturday, October 26, in the third-round clash between J&K and Services. The J&K skipper scored 28 off 67 balls on a spicy surface at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar.

He went past current Indian women's team's head coach Amol Muzumdar's tally of 9203 runs during his gritty knock. The right-handed batter, who made his debut in 2001, now has 9210 runs to his name in India's premier domestic red-ball tournament. Dogra is only behind the legendary Wasim Jaffer's staggering tally of 12038 runs. Meanwhile, Devendra Bundela (9202) and Yashpal Singh (8700) comprise the top-five list of highest run-scorers in Ranji Trophy history.

The soon-to-be 40-year-old has accumulated an impressive 9604 runs in 135 first-class matches at an average of 49.76, which also includes 31 centuries and 33 half-centuries. During his time with Himachal Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy, Dogra amassed over 6418 runs with 19 hundreds and 24 fifties. He went on to become the first batter to score a Ranji  century for Puducherry. He accumulated 11 centuries across five seasons. The Palampur-born joined J&K ahead of this season and has scored 72 runs from four innings so far.

Dogra has the most centuries (30) among active players in the Ranji Trophy. Meanwhile, in the all-time list, he is behind Jaffer (40) and Ajay Sharma (31). He is also tied with Cheteshwar Pujara with most double centuries (nine) by batters in the Ranji Trophy.
