Jammu and Kashmir’s Shubham Khajuria wrote history as he became the first batter from J&K in 22 years to hit a double century in the Ranji Trophy history. He achieved the feat against Maharashtra in Srinagar on Saturday of the Round 1 of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25.

It is worth noting that before Khajuria, Ashwani Gupta in 2002 was the last batter to hit a double ton. He achieved the feat against Bihar, and after 22 years since the moment, Khajuria became the latest player to do so. Interestingly, Khajuria is the third batter from J&K to hit a double ton, after Gupta and Kavaljit Singh.

Furthermore, Ashwani Gupta has hit double tons twice before, once in 2002 and once in 1995. Khajuria continued to wreak havoc on Maharashtra’s bowling attack, helping J&K post a big total onto the scoreboard.

J&K post 449 runs by tea against Maharashtra

Jammu & Kashmir have gotten off to a magnificent start to their ongoing clash against Maharashtra. The side opened their innings with Abhinav Puri being sent back to the pavilion for a duck. The opener was dismissed after facing just two deliveries.

However, Khajuria’s knock stabilised the innings for his side. By the time of tea, J&K had batted for 136 overs and sat on a comfortable score of 449 runs. Khajuria, after completing his double ton, continued his onslaught, scoring 255* runs in 352 deliveries.
