Ranji Trophy 2024: Ajinkya Rahane likely to return for upcoming fixtures after missing Bihar game due to injury

Star Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane made his way to Patna with high spirits for the Ranji Trophy match against the home team, Bihar. However, the seasoned batter had to sit out due to a neck injury incurred during a practice session. As per the latest developments, the veteran will be back for upcoming Ranji matches.
Rahane, sharing his love for the game, mentioned having a great passion for playing, which motivated him to come to Patna and never back down from the opportunity to play.
"I have a great passion for playing, and that's why I came to Patna. I never back down from playing. However, during a practice session, I suffered a minor injury in my neck. That's why I am not playing this match. But I will definitely play in the upcoming Ranji matches," Rahane said as quoted by India Today.
Despite Rahane's absence on the field, the Mumbai team experienced a warm welcome in Patna. Rahane was quick to acknowledge the unexpected turnout, remarking,
"Usually, you don't get to see such a crowd in Ranji matches anywhere. But there was a significant crowd in Patna which shows the enthusiasm for cricket in Bihar. The Bihar crowd supported both teams equally. It's not like they were only supporting Bihar," Rahane added.
Delighted to witness the enduring passion for cricket in Patna, Rahane also recounted his culinary explorations, savoring the diverse cuisines of Bihar. He expressed a wish to return for more matches in the future.

When probed about the upcoming England tour and the possibility of making a comeback in the Indian Test team, Rahane chose to keep quiet. He responded,
"I won't say anything about it at the moment," leaving the question of his return open-ended.
Coming to the match between, Mumbai posted a total of 291 runs in their first innings, led by Bhupen Lalwani as the top scorer with 65 runs. Suved Parkar and Tanush Kotian also contributed fifties with each scoring 50 runs. As of now, Bihar, in their second innings, have managed to score 91 for six, trailing by 60 runs.
