The year 2024 is turning out to be a memorable year for the Khan family. Musheer, the younger brother of Sarfaraz, has impressed everyone with his performances during the Under-19 World Cup and he is continuing to show his class in the Ranji Trophy.
Mumbai are up against playing Baroda in the second quarterfinal of the Ranji Trophy at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai. Musheer, who is representing Mumbai in just his fourth first-class game, notched up a fine century on Day 1 and helped his team recover from a precarious position at 142/5.
On Day 2, he went from strength to strength and registered a brilliant double-century. The right-handed batter remained unbeaten on 203 off 357 balls as Mumbai were bowled out for 384 in 140.4 overs. Musheer hit 18 fours during his vital knock and received great support from wicketkeeper-batter Hardik Tamore, who played a sedate innings of 57 off 248 deliveries. The duo stitched an 181-run partnership to help Mumbai put on a decent first-innings total.

Musheer was the second-highest run-getter in the recently concluded Under-19 World Cup. He amassed 360 runs in seven matches at a staggering average of 60 and an excellent strike rate of 98.09. The 18-year-old was one of the best players in the tournament as the Indian team managed to maintain an unbeaten record en route to the summit clash against Australia. The five-time champions lost to Australia in the final but received plaudits from around the world for their dominance in the tournament.
The Kurla-born is now proving that he has the tools required to excel at the senior level as well. Mumbai has produced several batting greats over the years. It is safe to say that there is plenty of potential in Musheer that can help in making his dreams a reality.
His elder brother recently made his Test debut for India. If Musheer can keep himself grounded and continue scoring consistently at the domestic level, there is a chance of Indian fans once again seeing two brothers in action together for the national team.
