Mumbai batter Prithvi Shaw scored a brilliant hundred in just his second appearance in professional cricket after a long lay-off due to injury against Chhattisgarh in Ranji Trophy 2024. The 24-year-old scored 159 (185) smashing 18 fours and a six in his innings helping Mumbai get off to a great start on Day 1 of their sixth game on Friday, February 09 in Raipur. He got involved in a massive 244-run stand with opening partner Bhupen Lalwani off just 368 balls.
Shaw raced to his fifty off 43 balls and took some time to get to his 100 reaching the landmark in 102 balls. He further took another 67 balls to reach the 150-run mark. Notably, it was the 13th First Class hundred for the right-handed batter who also has one century to his name in Test cricket.

Earlier, he got a good start in his comeback game scoring 35 (42) during Mumbaiβs fifth fixture against Bengal. However, he failed to convert it into a big score and didnβt get a chance to bat in the second innings with Mumbai winning the game by an innings and four runs.
Notably, Shaw had been sidelined due to a knee injury which he picked up while playing for Northamptonshire in One Day Cup in August 2023. As a result, he had to undergo surgery in London, followed by three months of rehabilitation. The 24-year-old was recently cleared by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru after a fitness Test.
