Ranji Trophy Final 2024, Day 4 Review: Vidarbha far behind despite Nair, Wadkar fifties
Vidarbha finished Day 4 at 248/5, needing 290 runs to win on the final day.
In an exciting contest on Day 4 of the Ranji Trophy 2024 finals at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Vidharbha had a mammoth 538 to chase down. The match hung in favour of Mumbai by the end of Day 4 as Vidarbha need a massive 290 runs to win with five wickets in hands on the final day.
The fourth day kicked off with overnight batters Atharva Taide and Dhruv Shorey continuing the chase. Both the openers had a decent partnership and added 64 runs before Taide was dismissed by Shams Mulani for 32. Shorey also fell right after Taide's dismissal, scoring 28 off 50.

It was for Vidharbha's middle-order batters to rescue their team after the top-order dismissals. That's when Aman Mokhade and Karun Nair started cautiously and put their team in the race. Vidarbha lost Mokhade for 32 after he was dismissed lbw by Musheer Khan while Yash Rathod could not add much to the scoreboard after being dismissed by Tanush Kotian.
Nair, Wadkar keep Vidarbha in the game
Reeling at 133/4, Karun Nair along with skipper Akshay Wadkar put on a brilliant 90-run partnership. Nair played a solid knock of 74 off 220 balls. His innings included only three boundaries but his presence on the crease allowed Vidarbha to stay in the game after the early blows. Nair was the last wicket to fall on the day as Musheer struck again.

However, skipper Wadkar who played an aggressive knock to put Mumbai under some pressure. Wadkar stood unbeaten on 56, including six boundaries and one six, alongside Harsh Dubey. The duo will continue on the fifth and final day of the game with Vidarbha needing 290 runs to win.
