There has been a great mix of players who have made a great impression last season. One of the biggest talented prospects was Yashasvi Jaiswal who has already played a lot of memorable knocks early into his international career for the Indian team in both Test matches and T20Is scoring a lot of runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was named in the provisional Champions Trophy squad that was announced on January 12, but he was replaced by the mystery spinner, Varun Chakravarthy. Notably, Jaiswal had made his debut in the first ODI of the England series where he scored just 15 runs in Nagpur. However, missing the ICC mega event still did not stop him from finding a place in the Mumbai squad for the Ranji Trophy semifinals.

The heavy-duty side will cross swords with Vidarbha in their backyard in the second semifinal, starting on Monday, February 17. In the ongoing season, Mumbai are being led by the experienced Indian batter, Ajinkya Rahane, who displayed a great performance in the quarter-finals, as they beat Haryana by 152 runs at the iconic Eden Gardens, in Kolkata. Now ahead of the mouth-watering domestic clash, chief selector Sanjay Patil revealed that Mumbai have added Yashasvi Jaiswal to their squad for the Haryana game.

"Jaiswal and Shivam Dube are among the non-travelling substitutes for the Champions Trophy. The inclusion of Yashasvi for this crucial game will be beneficial and will boost the Mumbai team’s morale,” Patil was quoted as saying by the Mid Day.

Jaiswal played against Jammu & Kashmir but failed to get going

Speaking of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s last performance in the Ranji Trophy, he featured in the game against Jammu and Kashmir. However, the explosive batter only managed to score four and 26 in the two innings he batted for Team Mumbai.

Hence, on his return for the knockout match, Jaiswal will want to make a much bigger impact on his return to the side against a spirited Vidarbha, who have been having a great season so far in the prestigious domestic tournament.
