In the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Madhya Pradesh’s Rajat Patidar and Maharashtra’s Ruturaj Gaikwad have once again grabbed eyeballs with their brilliant innings in their respective matches.
In a Group C clash at the Sports Hub International Cricket Stadium in Trivandrum, Madhya Pradesh’s star batter Patidar played a crucial knock, scoring 92 off 142 balls against Kerala, falling short of a well-deserved century by just eight runs. The right-hander was dismissed off Nedumankuzhy Basil's bowling, with the catch being completed by Akshay Chandran. Patidar’s innings was laced with included 11 boundaries, which ensured MP took a lead of over 220 runs.
Patidar’s form this season has been nothing short of phenomenal. With 519 runs at an average of 51.4 in Ranji Trophy 2024-25, he has continued his fine form from previous tournaments. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, he hammered 428 runs with a strike rate of 186.08, while in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025, he scored 226 runs at an average of 56.5.
Over his last 16 innings across formats, he has consistently delivered impactful performances, including an unbeaten 132 earlier this season. Despite starting the match on a low note with a two-ball duck in the first innings, Patidar’s second innings witnessed him get his team back on track.

Gaikwad bounces back with 89-run knock
In another Ranji Trophy clash, Maharashtra’s skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a brilliant 89 off just 83 balls against Baroda. His fine knock included 14 boundaries and two sixes, however, he missed a century by 11 runs. The middle-order batter's aggressive knock has helped his team to exceed their lead by over 400 runs.
The Maharashtra batter had a challenging start to the match, dismissed for just 10 runs in the first innings. However, he bounced back in style in the second innings, racing to a half-century off just 39 balls.
