The SA20 2025 is set to take place from January 9. With the start of the season not too far, MI Cape Town announced leggie Rashid Khan as the skipper for the third iteration of the tournament.
Notably, the last two editions' winners were the Sunrisers Eastern Cape who were led by South African star batter Aiden Markram. However, MI Cape Town, despite having the big stars, failed to make an impact in the first two seasons.
The last two seasons have seen MI Cape Town finish at the bottom of the table despite boasting a squad of big stars. The team was led by Kieron Pollard last season however, this upcoming tournament will see the return of Rashid Khan who will be leading the side once again and will want to make up for missing the last season due to a back injury.
It is a positive sign for the franchise since Rashid was one of the missing pieces in MI Cape Town’s bowling lineup which was leaking runs regularly in the last season. Rashid might have not had a great run as a skipper leading the side in the inaugural season but is one of the biggest match-winners in the game.
