One of the biggest debates in the Champions Trophy 2025 was about India having an unfair advantage over the other participants for playing all of their games in Dubai. Majority of this criticism came from Pakistan, who had to share hosting the games as India didn't give their nod to travel to the neighbouring nation for the coveted tournament.

However, a few of English experts like Nasser Hussain, David Lloyd, and Michael Atherton also came forward to heavily criticize the ICC and the BCCI as well for poorly scheduling the games in the 2025 edition of the eight-team tournament. Responding to their comments, former Pakistan cricketer Rashid Latif defended the organizers and said that the incoming English criticism is unjust.

“If we (Pakistan) are talking about India having an advantage, you get it. But why are former England cricketers whining about it now? Begaani shaadi mein abdullah deewana (They are trying to be overly involved in someone else's affairs)," Rashid Latif said on his YouTube channel.

“Yes, there was a problem with scheduling. On Sunday, March 2nd, India played New Zealand in Dubai. If India had played that match a day earlier, when England played South Africa (on March 1st) in Karachi, then the semifinal line-up would have been decided easily. It was a blunder from the ICC and all the stakeholders.  You have one job: to check the schedule, and you missed the mistake. Once you agreed, and now your team is out, you are whining. All the representatives of the cricket boards are to blame. You should not go to the ICC meeting to have a good time. Do your job properly," he responded further.

Speaking of the England, they were the only team who ended the tournament without any points losing all three of their games in Group B with disappointing performances against Australia, Afghanistan, and South Africa. The Three Lions were also the first team to get knocked out of the competition, and their skipper Jos Buttler decided to step down from the position following the shambolic result.
