Royal Challengers Bengaluru let go of Yuzvendra Chahal ahead of IPL 2022. The leg-spinner was arguably their biggest match-winner with the ball ahead of the mega-auction, they let him go, with the hope of buying the leg-spinner back in the auction. However, they instead picked Wanindu Hasaranga, whom they released two years later. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals signed Chahal and the 33-year-old has done a commendable job for the franchise so far.

In Rajasthan’s last match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Chahal picked up three wickets and gave away just 11 runs in his four overs. After which, former cricketer Shane Watson lauded the spinner and opened up about his consistency in IPL and also in international cricket. He added that Chahal is currently at the top of his game and mentioned that he doesn’t understand why RCB let him go in the first place.

“Yuzvendra Chahal has done it a long period of time in the IPL in international cricket as well. Chahal does not go for many runs and he gets the best batters out. He continues to do it game after game, year after year and Rajasthan Royals are so fortunate to have him,” Shane Watson said on Jio Cinema.

“Today he picked the big wicket of Hardik Pandya which was in the crucial moment of the game. Yuzi Chahal came out in the top once again. I keep saying this - RCB, why the hell did you let him go,” the 42-year-old added.

Meanwhile, Chahal is not in the scheme of things for India in T20I cricket at the moment. Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja are ahead of him in the pecking order but if he continues to perform well and win matches for Rajasthan, the cricketer might get into India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which is slated to begin on June 1. So far, Chahal has picked up six wickets in three matches and is second on the IPL Purple Cap list.
