BCCI's meeting, which was scheduled to take place on March 29, has reportedly been postponed to a later date. As per India Today, Ajit Agarkar, Gautam Gambhir, and other key members were set to discuss the BCCI Central Contracts and the Indian men's team's preparations for the tour of England in Guwahati on Saturday, which will now take place on a deferred date.

The revised date for the meeting, however, has not been confirmed yet. Apart from the above-mentioned topics, the agenda of the meeting also had to do with a key aspect of the senior men's side. The meeting was set for finalizing their central contracts as well, along with the discussion for a potential Test captain for the England tour and beyond.

According to the reports, star players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja might retain their Grade A+ contract. Both Rohit and Virat's Test careers are hanging by a thread. Kohli reportedly spoke about his Test career in a meeting with one of the members of the selection committee.

Agenda of meeting

India's tour to the United Kingdom in June this year might potentially be a make-or-break scenario for the senior batters. A key discussion of the meeting could be the re-inclusion of Shreyas Iyer into the central contracts. Along with Ishan Kishan, Iyer was excluded from the BCCI central contracts in 2024 for their 'non-disciplinary actions'.

Another key player, who could be a centre of discussion in the meeting, could be Varun Chakravarthy, who has done well in both T20Is and ODIs since returning to the side. Apart from the discussions on central contracts, the selectors and the officials are likely to discuss India's squad for the upcoming England tour, beginning in June. The form of key players in the red-ball format may invite some surprises to the squad.

India suffered a clean sweep against New Zealand at home in 2024. They followed it up with a 1-3 loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 down under. The meeting might oversee the availability of some of the key players. As a result, the upcoming five-match series against The Three Lions becomes extremely crucial.
