The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly going to announce India's squads for the impending multi-format South Africa tour on Thursday, November 30.

As per reports, BCCI top brass is looking to convince Rohit Sharma to lead the team in the three T20Is that will be played in the Rainbow Nation. It is important to note that Rohit has not played a T20I since India's heartbreaking semi-final exit against England in the T20 World Cup in 2022.

It was reported earlier that Rohit will not be available for the white-ball lef of the South Africa tour. India are scheduled to play three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests in South Africa. Hardik Pandya, who has usually led the T20I team in Rohit's absence, is recovering from an ankle injury suffered during the recently concluded ODI World Cup 2023. The Baroda all-rounder will not be fit in time for the series against the Proteas.

Suryakumar Yadav, who is leading the 'Men in Blue' in the ongoing five-match T20I series against Australia, was expected to be at the helm during the T20Is against South Africa but that could change if the BCCI manages to convince Rohit to make a comeback in the shortest format of the game. Meanwhile, reports stated that former India captain Virat Kohli, who was in prolific form during the ODI World Cup 2023, informed the BCCI of his decision to take a break from the white-ball leg of the tour to South Africa.

However, the Delhi batter is going to be back for the Test series. The highly-anticipated tour begins with the first T20I in Durban on Sunday, December 10. The second and third T20Is will be played in Gqeberha (December 12) and Johannesburg (December 14), respectively.
