After the conclusion of the World Test Championship 2023 Final, India will gear up for the next project as they are scheduled to tour West Indies for two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is. With the Test series among the first set of cricketing actions scheduled to be played between India and West Indies, the two sides are likely to play the games at Trinidad and Dominica.
Out of the eight white-ball games, the first six will be played at Barbados, Trinidad, and Guyana, as per a provisional schedule distributed by Cricket West Indies (CWI).
The final two T20Is will be played in Florida, USA, according to Cricbuzz. As per the current plan, the series will begin on July 12 and end on August 13. On July 5 and 6, the Indian squad is anticipated to leave for the Caribbean. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce the official dates for the games once the scheduling is complete.
The boards have not yet signed a formal agreement for the two extra T20Is. Members of the BCCI and CWI will meet at the World Test Championship final in London in the coming days and will arrive at a decision.
Also, it is said that Hardik Pandya is likely to be team India's captain in the T20 series against the West Indies, as the selectors continue to evaluate Pandya’s performance in preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Viacom bags the digital rights
Although JioCinema was previously the digital platform for the IPL 2023, Viacom18 has acquired the digital rights to the series and will stream the games for free. The digital programming was sublicensed to Viacom18 by Dream Sports, the parent company of FanCode and the owners of the rights to bilateral matches involving Cricket West Indies.
In addition, Dream Sports intends to negotiate a deal for the linear rights with the national broadcaster Prasar Bharati. Keeping with the two sides' previous agreement, DD Sports will air the games on television.
"We are working on various arrangements for the series. While the matches will be available on FanCode, we may also share the content with a couple of other platforms, both linear and digital," a Dream Sports executive was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
