The loss at the hands of Sri Lanka in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 has been hard to digest for Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. After the game, he lashed out at his teammates in the dressing room and later didn’t talk to his teammates in the team hotel. The matter escalated further when the skipper didn’t inform his teammates and left Sri Lanka after the Asia Cup exit.

As per Bol News, Babar was extremely angry with the performance of some of the cricketers and that led to these incidents. The 28-year-old was smiling during the post-match presentation but after his arrival in the dressing room, the scenario changed and Babar expressed his frustration. It was during the same time when he got involved in a heated spat with ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, which Mohammad Rizwan later had to interfere and calm things down.

Here's the report by Bol News:

Ahead of the ODI World Cup, this is quite a serious matter. Babar previously backed all his players and also asked not to demotivate anyone because of their performance. However, the tables have turned after a disappointing two-wicket defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in Colombo.

On the other hand, Pakistan have no other bilateral series lined up at the moment and will once again regroup ahead of the mega tournament in India. They will play a couple of warm-up games against New Zealand and Australia in Hyderabad before taking on the Netherlands in their first World Cup match on October 6 on the same ground.

Hence, not enough time left for preparations at the moment and on top of that, a possible rift can cost Pakistan the opportunity to win the coveted trophy. They are currently the number-one-ranked ODI team in the world but finished at the bottom of the table in the Super Four. This might affect them morally and that is one area that the think tank needs to address immediately. Babar too will have to resolve differences for the growth of Pakistan cricket.
