Reports: ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 witnesses a huge 55% spike in celebrity endorsements

According to a report, the volume of ads featuring celebrity endorsements increased by 55% in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 compared to the 2019 edition.

The recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup has cemented its place as one of cricket's greatest triumphs. The tournament not only delivered thrilling matches but also saw a significant increase in celebrity endorsements, making it spectacular both on and off the field.

Notably, the volume of ads featuring celebrity endorsements increased by 55% in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 compared to the 2019 edition. Cricket has become a platform not only for showcasing sporting talent but also for celebrities to shine in the endorsement arena. Sports personalities dominated the share of celebrity endorsements with an impressive 58%, leaving actors behind with only 30%.

This marks a shift from the 2019 World Cup when actors held a higher share of celebrity endorsements at 60%. Athletes are now the driving force behind the surge in endorsements, contributing 26% more than the previous World Cup, as per a TAM report.

Rahul Dravid became the favourite choice for advertising giants during ODI World Cup 2023

Rahul Dravid emerged as the leader in the list of celebrities, topping both the overall and sports celebrity rankings in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Shah Rukh Khan and MS Dhoni added their star power to the tournament with 7% each, while Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant closely followed with 6% tally each.

Vishnu Packaging took the lead among celebrity advertisers, with K P Pan Foods (11%), Sports Technologies (11%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (9%), and Coca-Cola (7%) India following closely. Vimal Elaichi Pan Masala claimed 1st place as the most advertised brand by celebrities in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, capturing a substantial 16% share.

Ajay Devgan and Kajol emerged as the leading couple, claiming a substantial 25% share of ad volumes. Following closely behind the duo of Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna, securing a noteworthy 24% share. Meanwhile, the ever-popular couple, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, held their own with a 12% share.

As the cricketing world celebrates its champions, the endorsement arena shines brightly with the stars who added their charisma to the tournament, making the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 a grand success both on and off the field.
