The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to convene for a meeting to be reportedly held on December 5, 2024. There remains a mounting uncertainty when it comes to the format and the exact manner in which the 2025 edition of the Champions Trophy will be conducted. As per the latest developments, the meeting on Thursday does not quite have a specific agenda linked to it.
The perceived notion is that the meeting might end up being an introductory session for Jay Shah, the freshly-inducted chairperson of the ICC. The former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India officially took charge on December 1. Whether there will be a discussion on the Champions Trophy or not, according to Cricbuzz, is yet to be clarified.
Coming to the Champions Trophy (CT25), it was made clear last week that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was willing to go ahead with the hybrid model of the tournament, but on one specific condition. The PCB has reportedly proposed a Partnership Formula or Fusion Formula to be undergone. Under this specific proposition, the PCB is anticipated to insist the BCCI to allow Pakistan to play their games at a neutral venue. This would be applicable for the tournaments India would be hosting in the next three years - the Asia Cup and the Women's World Cup in 2025, and the T20 World Cup in 2026.

However, there is no concrete evidence that the BCCI will accept the proposal. The Government of India is expected to be brought into the loop. It is a well-known reality that the current regime maintains an unwavering stance towards Pakistan.
Broadcasters' workshop scheduled on December 5
It has come to the surface that the ICC will be organizing a workshop, specifically for its global media partners. The one-day event in Dubai is set to be attended by Jio and Star from India. However, the global administrative idea has quashed the news regarding there being updates regarding the Champions Trophy, and close sources have revealed that there is no need to read between the lines.
