Former Pakistan cricketer, Imran Khan, has been under custodial arrest since August 2023. The former Pakistan Prime Minister was charged with over 150 legal cases and was convicted in four of them, leading to one of the longest imprisonments of nine years till now. The 71-year-old is the head of the political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), and the party was on the verge of getting dismantled after his sentence.

According to the report from Hindustan Times, Imran will be contesting the United Kingdom’s Oxford University chancellor election from prison through an online ballot system. It is worth noting that the former World Cup-winning captain is an alumna of the university, as he studied Economics and Politics at Keble College, Oxford in 1972. India unlikely to travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025

Talking about the Pakistan cricket team, the Men-In-Green have displayed sub-par performances in the latest ICC events. They were shown the exit door in the World Cup 2023 in the group stages and were ousted from the T20 World Cup 2024 from the group stage. Moreover, the perpetual change in captaincy and management has not helped the team’s cause either.

The team will be eyeing to make an impact in the upcoming Champions Trophy, scheduled to be hosted by them in February-March 2025. There are speculations that the Indian team will not travel to the neighbouring country due to a lack of security assurance and political tensions between the countries. India will reportedly ask for a neutral venue against the Pakistan Cricket Board’s scheduling of Lahore as their sole venue for the tournament.
