Reports: India all-rounder Washington Sundar's Twitter account gets hacked
Washington Sundar's Twitter account appeared to have been hacked, while a post was tweeted with links directing users to Cryptocurrencies.
On Monday, June 5, India cricketer Washington Sundar's Twitter account appeared to have been hacked, while a post was tweeted with links directing users to Cryptocurrencies.
Notably, this is not the first time a social media account has been hacked. The Twitter account of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had been hacked twice, once in September 2021 and in January 2023.
RCB ended up posting NFT-related tweets on the franchise’s timeline earlier this year. The hacker changed the profile photo and the name to 'Bored Ape Yacht Club' and shared NFT-related tweets, which other NFT-related users reposted.
In 2022, India all-rounder Krunal Pandya's account was also hacked by a Bitcoin scammer. One tweet from the hacked account said that they were selling the account for bitcoins.
Sundar misses huge portion of the IPL 2023 season due to injury
Washington Sundar features for the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL. The Aiden Markram-led franchise had a dismal season, finishing bottom of the points table with just eight points. He was forced to withdraw from the 16th edition of the lucrative league due to a hamstring injury, which cost him a significant amount of time. In seven games, the 23-year-old bowling all-rounder picked up only three wickets for SRH at an average of 48.66 and an economy rate of 8.26.
With the bat, he scored 60 runs from seven innings at an average of 15.00 and a strike rate of 100.00. The Tamil Nadu-born player had also suffered an injury during the previous IPL season, suffering split webbing in his bowling hand. Due to his ongoing battles with injuries, the all-rounder has also missed quite a few games for the Indian national men's cricket team.
