The BCCI has been making a lot of rules considering the players and the staff members ahead of the Champions Trophy. Apart from the diktat to ensure that international cricketers gave importance to domestic cricket, there are many other instances where the apex board has ensured that there is certain discipline and unity among the players in the team.

One of the most recent reports suggested that even the cricketers' families might also be barred from the event since the tournament duration is less than a month. However, to maintain this according to some reports the Personal Assistant (PA) of India head coach Gautam Gambhir was quietly asked to stay in a different hotel than the team due to the guidelines of the accommodation arrangements of personal staff.

“The personal secretary of a member of the coaching staff, who was regularly seen staying at the team hotel, now stays at a different facility even though he has been seen at every venue during the England home series," said a report as quoted by Hindustan Times.

A BCCI official also expressed his frustration with the PA of the coach shadowing the team at every venue whether it is travelling and sitting in the VIP areas during the matches with the selectors or the team. The official also mentioned that it also caused problems for the selectors who could not discuss anything important due to a third unknown person being present.

“Why was his PA sitting in the car specified for national selectors? They can't even discuss things in private with an unknown third person in the car. Why was he allotted space in the BCCI's hospitality box in Adelaide? How did he have breakfast in the cordoned-off area of a five-star facility that is just earmarked for the team members?" The BCCI official said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Speaking of the Indian team they had announced their final squad for the Champions Trophy and have had a successful home ODI series against England where they whitewashed the visitors 3-0. India's young star batter Shubman Gill was the player of the series at the end of the three-match series.
