Star India pacer, Jasprit Bumrah incurred a back spasm while bowling on Day 2 while bowling in the first innings of Australia’s batting. The pacer was immediately taken for scans and later returned to the dressing room. As India were defending a small target of 162 on Day 3, he did not take the field and this ignited concerns among the cricket fanatics.

The grade of Bumrah's back spasm is still unknown. If he has sustained a grade 1 category injury, it will take a minimum of two to three weeks of rehabilitation before he is deemed fit to Return to Play (RTP). If the injury is in the grade 2 category, Bumrah will miss at least six weeks while grade 3 will keep him away for a maximum of three months as per NDTV.

The 31-year-old’s workload was given much more importance by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) prior to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. It goes without saying that the right-arm pacer will miss the upcoming five-match T20I series against England scheduled to commence on January 22 with the first T20I and his workload could be looked after.

You've got to respect your body: Jasprit Bumrah

Speaking of workload, Bumrah bowled the second-highest number of overs for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the MCG Test, he bowled 53.2 overs across two innings. The pacer bowled a staggering 151.2 over and picked 32 wickets to become the Player of the Series. But after missing bowling in the second innings of the final Test, he seemed dejected and expressed the same in a post-match presentation.

"It's a little frustrating, but sometimes you've got to respect your body, you can't fight your body. It's a little disappointing in the end because I probably missed out on the spiciest wicket of the series, but that's the way it is. Sometimes, you have to accept it and move forward, said Bumrah.
