Pakistan are all set to take on Ireland in an upcoming three-match T20I series, which will kick off on May 10. The series will be played to better prepare the side for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies on June 2.

Ahead of the three-game series, veteran pacer Mohammad Amir may not be allowed to leave with the squad for Ireland due to Visa issues. It was reported by NDTV that the rest of the squad had no issues getting their authorizations, but a delay in Amir’s arrival is now being anticipated.

The reason for the same has been reported to be Amir’s connection to the jail term he served for the 2010 spot-fixing scandal. The pacer faced a similar situation in 2018 as well when Pakistan went to Ireland and England, but the cricketer was allowed to enter after a slight delay.

“Because of the spot-fixing case of 2010 and his subsequent jail term and ban his visa is still being processed, we are hopeful he will get his visa in a day or two, and he can join them later,” a source in the know was quoted as saying by NDTV.
