The apex cricket governing body of Pakistan aka Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) along with newly elected Test head coach Jason Gillespie have shown faith in the young Shan Masood to continue his tenure as the Captain. Interestingly enough, the board chose to keep their decision on hold regarding the future of Babar Azam as their leader in the limited-overs format ahead.

Notably, the Green Shirts have a packed international cricket schedule ahead. They will be hosting England in a Test series which will consist of three games later in October, later this year. Besides, they will also feature against South Africa, Bangladesh and West Indies, respectively.

On Wednesday, the PCB conducted a meeting where the national selectors, Jason Gillespie, Gary Kirsten, Azhar Mahmood along with senior officials of the board mulled over the performance of the team in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. Furthermore, Masood who was appointed as skipper during the Australia tour was entrusted with the duties as full confidence was shown during the meet regarding his conduct as a leader of the team.

“The meeting was held to discuss ways to move forward with a comprehensive blueprint for the national team in red and white ball formats,” a source was quoted as saying by the NDTV regarding the latest developments.

“Shan got the support at the meeting to continue as Test captain for the upcoming series against Bangladesh, England, South Africa and the West Indies between August and January,” he further added.

Meanwhile, speaking of the current skipper of Green Shirts, Babar Azam, his ability to handle the team and get the players to perform under immense pressure situations became a major talk and was criticized quite heavily by both the fans and the cricket experts alike. Notably, Pakistan crumbled in pressure games during the T20 World Cup. They also came under the radar of the fans for losing against the minnows in the form of the USA.

The selection committee should be sacked collectively for their incompetence: Nawaz

Former Pakistan pace legend Sarfraz Nawaz has shown his anger over the way the selection committee has conducted their management in recent times. As a result, he had written to the PCB demanding that the whole committee should be sacked for their failure after a dismal World Cup campaign. Moreover, Nawaz also felt that the current committee was incompetent when it comes to their work ethics. He also revealed that he was sure that Wahab Riaz was not a good administrator and wrote to former and current PCB chiefs Zaka Ashraf and Mohsin Naqvi regarding not electing the former Pakistan pacer as the chief selector.

"The selection committee has worked collectively and should be sacked collectively for their failure and incompetence. I am on record to have written letters to Zaka (Ashraf) and (Mohsin) Naqvi regarding Wahab's suspected past and his lack of abilities as an administrator. Nobody paid heed to my suggestion," Nawaz concluded.
