With ample time at their hands before hosting their next international series, the Pakistan Cricket Board are planning on organizing a "connection camp" to turn the tide after Pakistan suffered yet another setback after the elimination in the group stage of the 50-over World Cup last year and the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup with an embarrassing series loss to Bangladesh recently.

The governing body's top management will be included in the programme to decide the following moves which they would want to make the team undergo to enhance the state they're in as compared to how they are at present, as per a report by Geo News.

The chairperson of the PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, will be taking charge of the meeting with Gary Kirsten as well as Jason Gillespie, their limited-overs head coach and Test coach, respectively, along with senior cricketers and board members. The meeting is expected to be scheduled on September 22, 2024.

One of the chief agendas of the meeting, according to the same report, would be to deliberate on the prospect of transferring the baton of captaincy. There were earlier reports which suggested that Mohammad Rizwan could quite possibly be chosen to replace Babar Azam as Pakistan's white-ball skipper going forward.

Post submitting a progress report in July, Kirsten had already made his way to South Africa, whereas Gillespie was at the helm for the Bangladesh series and returned to Australia following its conclusion.

The board also announced five teams for the domestic tournament, the Champions One-Day Cup, slated to commence on September 12, 2024. The likes of Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Haris, and Saud Shakeel will lead the respective sides.

The PCB will be hoping that the camp they have planned on organizing can help obtain further direction on how to proceed forward and help the Pakistan cricket team get back on course for the forthcoming series.
